Powerful health boosting drink

While the term ‘superfood’ has become a bit of a cliché, there are several foods that have consistently proven to have impressive health benefits, with the will of Allah. Many of the ingredients have strong anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties which make them foods to be consumed on a regular basis to boost health.


This health boosting drink combines 6 ingredients which are all known to have strong health benefits. Read on to discover the basic recipe as well as a few personalised variations.



1tsp finely grated fresh tumeric

1tsp finely grated fresh ginger

1 cup boiling water

1tsp coconut oil

Juice of 1 slice of lemon

1tsp honey



Finely grate the tumeric & ginger and steep in boiling water in a saucepan. Place on low heat to simmer until the liquid turns dark yellow. Strain out the ginger and tumeric and pour the liquid into a mug.  You can keep the strained fibres aside and allow them to air to reuse the next day as they will still contain strong flavours. Stir in the coconut oil and lemon juice and allow to stand until drinking temperature. Finally add the honey and stir well. Drink while warm or allow to cool. The coconut oil aids absorption of the active ingredients and the honey balances the slightly tart taste.  


Variation 1:


Instead of using fresh spices you can use Natureland dried ground tumeric and ginger. Because the ground spices tend to have a more intense taste you will only need half a teaspoon of each. You will also need a finer strainer to prevent the spice grains from remaining in the liquid. Discard the spices once they have been strained out.


Variation 2:


Instead of using water you can use raw milk. To retain the nutrients in the raw milk you will want to heat it only enough to melt the coconut oil. This should be around 30 degrees centigrade. Do not let the milk boil. Prepare the drink as above using milk instead of water, however, you will need to discard the ginger and tumeric after they have been strained out.



The ingredients in this drink all have strong anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties. It can be enjoyed first thing in the morning by people who prefer to have a light breakfast. It is also ideal for athletes as a recovery drink after a workout or for people who suffer from joint or muscle pain.
